More and more cases
Masses of people fall ill after tent festival in Stuttgart
A visit to the Stuttgart Spring Festival at the weekend has now had a bad aftermath for hundreds of people. They may have been infected with norovirus. Exactly how the visitors became infected is still the subject of investigations by the public health department and the veterinary authorities. In the meantime, more and more cases of vomiting, diarrhea and nausea are being reported.
The German media are talking about over 300 people who all celebrated, ate and drank in a marquee. No hygiene or technical problems have been identified so far. Food samples are still being examined.
"As soon as the first reports were received, the food control and health authorities were on site to check hygiene and take food samples. Our primary aim at the moment is to contain the outbreak and localize the source of the infection," a spokesperson for the city of Stuttgart told the Stuttgarter Zeitung newspaper on Wednesday.
There are already secondary infections
In the meantime, there have already been further infections as a result of contact between sick people and other people. According to reports, some of the staff have also already fallen ill.
