From the end of June
New town innkeeper in Ebelsberg is no stranger
When it became public in March that Franz Schatzeder, the popular chef who has been providing down-to-earth pub culture in the Volkshaus in Kremsmünsterer Straße 1-3 for well over three decades, will be going into well-earned retirement in July, a murmur went through Ebelsberg. This is because the 65-year-old is the only landlord left in the district who still treats his guests to Austrian cuisine.
But the people of Ebelsberg can breathe a sigh of relief - even though the town has not yet presented a successor to Schatzeder. He is continuing indirectly, as he reveals in an interview with the Krone: "Yes, it's true. Together with my son Oliver, I will be opening the Stadtwirt at Wiener Straße 489 from the end of June." Where Resch & Frisch and most recently Café Lieblingsplatz were located.
"It's like a smaller Volkshaus"
"My time at the Volkshaus was wonderful, but it was often exhausting. In future, I'll be putting all my passion into a slightly smaller pub. We have 35 seats inside and 15 in the garden, which is perfect."
