USA extends Iran sanctions after cyber attacks

The USA has extended its sanctions against Iran. According to the Treasury Department in Washington, four individuals and two companies have been added to the sanctions list for allegedly being "involved in malicious cyber activities" on behalf of the military.

The cyberattacks were directed against a dozen companies and authorities in the USA and were commissioned by the Iranian Revolutionary Guards Cyber Command. Iran has long devoted significant resources to hacking and is being monitored by IT security researchers.

Last week, the USA and the UK imposed comprehensive new sanctions against Tehran in response to the Iranian attack on Israel. These include the Iranian drone and missile program, the country's Ministry of Defense and the Iranian Revolutionary Guards.
