Inducted into the Order
King Charles honors Princess Kate for her commitment
King Charles III (75) has appointed his daughter-in-law Kate to the Order of Companions of Honor. The award honors people who have made outstanding contributions in the fields of art, science, medicine and public service.
The 42-year-old Princess of Wales, who, like Charles, recently made a cancer illness public, will be inducted into the Order as a Royal Companion, Buckingham Palace announced on Tuesday.
William and Camilla were also honored
Heir to the throne Prince William (41) can now adorn himself with the title "Great Master of the Most Honorable Order of the Bath" in addition to numerous other titles.
Charles awarded his wife, Queen Camilla (76), the "Grand Master and First or Principal Dame Grand Cross of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire".
Four new members of the Order of Knighthood
Charles appointed four new members to Britain's most important order of knighthood, the Order of the Garter. It now includes the wife of Charles' youngest brother Prince Edward (60), Duchess Sophie (59), as well as musical legend Andrew Lloyd-Webber.
According to the British news agency PA, the 76-year-old was deeply moved and spoke of "the greatest honor of my life". He composed a piece of music especially for Charles' coronation last year.
