It is rare to see so many young people in the venerable Graz Opera House. At the prizewinners' concert of the Prima la musica youth music competition, the excellent young musicians did not just gather on stage.

Soloists and ensembles, all winners of this year's Prima la musica competition, presented a varied program ranging from Bach, Mozart and Vivaldi to contemporary composers. Most of the young musicians were naturally very excited to perform on this venerable stage. However, they impressed their audience with their performances and roused them to storms of enthusiasm.

For some of the young artists, this performance was also preparation for the national competition, where they will compete against the best from all over Austria. This evening certainly gives them confidence.

Certificate for every participant
For all participants, however, this prizewinners' concert was a celebration. Everyone was presented with their certificate on stage, making the opera house almost too small when everyone gathered for the big final photo.

A successful finale to a very successful competition. For some, however, it is now time to continue practising hard, as the national competition is scheduled to take place in Brixen in South Tyrol from 18 May to 1 June.
