USA: 15 people injured during guided tour at Universal Studios
At Universal Studios in Hollywood, 15 people were slightly injured in an accident involving a streetcar. This was announced by the local fire department on X (formerly Twitter) on Sunday night.
The incident occurred on Saturday evening (local time) during a studio tour at the Californian amusement park, which is popular with tourists. The injured were taken to hospital for a check-up, it was reported.
Problem with the brakes of the streetcar
A streetcar with four carriages was involved in the accident, wrote the "Los Angeles Times" newspaper, citing investigators. The incident occurred when the vehicle was traveling down a hill. There had been a problem with the brakes. The investigation is still ongoing.
Theme park celebrates 60th anniversary
The Studio Tour is one of the main attractions of the theme park and will be celebrating its 60th anniversary next week, the newspaper continued. It takes its participants behind the scenes of Universal films from past decades, such as "Jaws".
"We are working to support our guests and understand the circumstances that led to the accident," it said in a statement distributed by the theme park, according to US media. Footage from the scene of the accident reportedly showed ambulances and police cars.
