Bicycle thief caught: Police are now looking for victims
Because a 49-year-old man who had previously been robbed discovered the stolen goods, his bicycle, on a sales platform on the Internet, he raised the alarm with the police. The suspect offered five other bicycles for sale on the platform.
The police in Vienna-Leopoldstadt quickly identified a 16-year-old as the suspect.
Further investigations revealed that the suspect offered five more, presumably stolen, bicycles on the sales platform.
16-year-old arrested
The suspect was taken to a police station for questioning. However, he refused to make a statement. He was arrested by order of the Vienna public prosecutor's office.
Based on the five further sales reports, the Vienna police assume that the suspect may have committed further bicycle thefts. The photographs of the advertisements for sale on the Internet have been secured.
Victims who recognize their bicycle are asked by the police to report to the Praterstern police station or call 01-31310-63367 to indicate where and when their bicycle was stolen.
