Fire attack in front of apartment door: dog as rescuer

As yet unknown perpetrators packed newspaper into a shopping bag, set it alight and placed it in front of an apartment door in Telfs: the dog alerted the resident to the attack by barking. 

According to police reports, unknown perpetrators set fire to a shopping bag filled with magazines in front of the door of an apartment in Telfs on Friday.

Resident reacted with presence of mind
The resident, a 54-year-old Austrian, was alerted to the fire outside the door by the barking of his dog. The 54-year-old was able to throw the doormat and shopping bag in front of the house and extinguish it with water.

Fire department on site with 20 firefighters
No people were injured. The amount of damage caused cannot be estimated at present. Further investigations are underway. The Telfs volunteer fire department was deployed with 20 firefighters and 5 vehicles.
