A buck-legged faun sparks love

First love in the schoolyard? The youth play "First Love - A Midsummer Night's Dream" at the Kammerspiele Linz turns the Shakespeare classic into a turbulent high school romance and brings together three different genres. Grandiose!

"First Love - A Midsummer Night's Dream" is not set in a fairytale forest, but in the dull foyer of a school. It was directed by Nele Neitzke and Martin Philipp. It starts off badly: Lysander, Hermia, Demetrius and the others have beaten up a colleague. As punishment, they have to re-enact "Pyramus and Thisbe".

But when the school caretaker finally shows her true self and transforms into a dazzling, buck-legged faun, the acting - and above all the love affair - really takes off and everything really does become a magical "Midsummer Night's Dream".

Punk, rock, baroque
This Puck, wonderfully played by Gemma Vannuzzi, pulls all the strings to try out several love variants with emotional shades. The romance is turbulently staged by a playful ensemble.

An encounter with three genres
In addition to the actors Friedrich Eidenberger and Sofie Pint, Ilia Dergousoff/S. Arthur Sicilia and Angelica Mattiazzi/Elisa Londolini from the dance ensemble; goosebump moments are provided by soprano Saskia Maas and baritone Christoph Gerhardus, who not only act, but also sing a few precious arias.

The band The Teachblossoms sits above the stage and intones baroque minimalism. Well worth seeing for audiences aged 13 and over.
