Cup Final Four
West Wien challenges Graz: “New territory for most”
West Wien attacks in the final tournament of the Handball Cup in Schwaz. The second division team is the underdog against Graz.
"We are clear underdogs," says coach Roli Marouschek. "But everyone is really looking forward to it." As a second-division team, West Vienna is involved in the Cup Final 4 in Schwaz and will take on HLA runners-up Graz on Friday (20:20). "A seasoned and experienced team with legionnaires," says Marouschek.
"So it's already a good foretaste and a small assessment for next season." Because West Wien, currently second division leaders, are on the verge of promotion or a return to the top flight.
"The setting will be new territory for most of my young lads"
Back to the Cup final event: The Viennese will only travel to Tirol on match day. "A, because you do it the way you're used to. B, because it's also a question of cost," explains Marouschek, who will see two of last year's green heroes in the other semi-final duel in Schwaz circle Samuel Kofler and Hard-Hexer Möstl. The coach himself has all his players available apart from Wegerer (cruciate ligament rupture) and support Dräger. "The setting will be new territory for most of my young lads. But we are ready and will give it our all."
