Knife attack: Girl died after cardiac arrest
The knife attack at a school in Alsace, France, has had dramatic consequences: a girl who suffered a cardiac arrest during the operation by security forces in her sealed-off school in Souffelweyersheim near Strasbourg has died.
The child had been taken to hospital the previous day in a serious condition. It is not yet known whether the girl had already suffered from heart problems.
Man injured two children outside school
On Thursday, a man had injured an eleven-year-old primary school pupil with a knife to the neck in front of a school. He also attacked a seven-year-old girl in a nearby square. Both pupils suffered minor injuries.
Emergency services arrested a suspect. According to initial findings by the public prosecutor's office, the man in his 30s could be mentally unstable. The perpetrator's motive is still unknown. According to the public prosecutor's office, there are no indications of a terrorist background.
