Alpine hut in the Zillertal completely burnt out
A large-scale operation for several fire departments on Friday in the Tyrolean Zillertal: a hut went up in flames on the Hochschwendberg in Hippach at around 1500 meters above sea level at around 6 am. There was not much the emergency services could do.
At around 6.20 a.m., an observer noticed what had happened via webcam. An alpine hut on the Hochschwendberg was on fire. The building is a converted stable above the Pendlingalm, which is used as a leisure residence.
Hut burnt down, no injuries
The witness informed the owner of the hut, whereupon the fire departments from Laimach, Schwendau, Ramsau and Zell am Ziller were deployed. The approach was not easy at first due to the snow-covered road.
The firefighters allowed the hut to burn down in a controlled manner - there was nothing left to save. According to the police, there were no people in or near the hut at the time the fire broke out, so there were no injuries.
It is still unclear what started the fire. The police are investigating.
