Thanks to the rapid intervention of the fire department, an inferno was prevented on Tuesday evening in Hopfgarten in the Tyrolean lowlands: A fire had broken out on the roof of a sawmill in the area of a wooden shoring. More than 120 firefighters arrived on the scene.
A local resident raised the alarm at around 7 pm. He reported massive smoke development on the roof of the sawmill in Hopfgarten. "The fire is believed to have broken out in the area of a wooden structure," reported the police. It contained a motor for the conveyor belt system, which was not in operation at the time.
Fire quickly under control
A total of around 120 firefighters from the town and the surrounding region arrived and started the firefighting operation. Fortunately, the firefighters were able to bring the fire under control quickly and thus prevent anything worse from happening.
Photovoltaic system also damaged
It was also a stroke of luck that no one was injured. However, the roof of the sawmill suffered massive damage and parts of the photovoltaic system were also damaged. The operation was completed at around 10 pm. Investigations into the cause of the fire are ongoing.
