Accident in Tyrol
Worker falls four meters on construction site
On a major construction site in Tyrol, a Pole (32) fell around four meters from a wooden platform on Tuesday and crashed onto the asphalt floor. The 32-year-old had to be flown to hospital in Innsbruck.
The accident occurred at around 5.15 p.m. in Stafflach in the municipality of Steinach am Brenner. "A 32-year-old Polish national was on the top of two stacked construction containers on a wooden platform in the stairwell area. He was leaning over a wooden railing serving as fall protection when two boards suddenly came loose, causing the worker to fall from a height of around four meters onto the asphalt floor," according to the police.
Work colleague provided first aid
The accident was witnessed by a colleague of the 32-year-old. He immediately initiated first aid measures and set the rescue chain in motion. After first aid, the Pole was flown to Innsbruck Hospital by the "Alpin 5" emergency helicopter with serious injuries.
