Silence prevailed for around two and a half hours at the Landhaus in Innsbruck. Among other things, the website, the entire Internet and the landline network of the state service were affected. The IT department worked flat out to resolve the problem, as spokesperson Florian Kurzthaler emphasized to the "Tiroler Krone" newspaper. And with success: the cause was a failure of central network components.

The system within the Landhaus had not been working since around 1 pm. If you opened the homepage, the following information popped up on the screen: "Due to a network failure, we are temporarily offline.
We ask for your understanding." On the Landhaus Facebook account, on the other hand, the following message appeared: "Perhaps some of you have already noticed: We are currently unavailable. Unfortunately, neither via the website, www.tirol.gv.at, landline or email. We are working hard to solve the problem. Additional information: The Provincial Warning Centre can be reached by emergency organizations, district authorities and municipalities via digital radio (BOS-Tirol)."

Network failure as the cause
According to spokesperson Florian Kurzthaler, the reason for the system failure has not yet been clarified, he told "Tiroler Krone" shortly before 3 pm. "Our IT department is already working on fixing the problem," he emphasized. Behind closed doors, some employees are talking about a "possible hacker attack". But they were wrong, as it turned out shortly before 4 pm.

"The online services of the Province of Tyrol were temporarily out of order for around two and a half hours this Tuesday afternoon due to a network outage. This affected the website of the Province of Tyrol www.tirol.gv.at, provincial employees were also temporarily partially unavailable by email or landline. According to the IT experts of the Province of Tyrol, central network components of the provincial computer center were affected. The systems of the Province of Tyrol, such as the website, landline and email, are currently being gradually brought back online," it was stated in an official press release.

"Many employees were in the corridors"
According to the "Tiroler Krone" informants, operations came to a standstill during the "offline time". "Many employees were in the corridors. There hasn't been such a long system failure for a long time, or perhaps never before. We certainly don't remember it," they emphasized.
