Meta has to shut down threads in Turkey for the time being

Mark Zuckerberg's Twitter rival is in trouble: Under pressure from the Turkish competition authorities, Meta will temporarily shut down its Threads communication service in the country.

From April 29, users there will no longer be able to send or receive short messages via this platform, the US company announced in a blog post on Monday. The other meta services Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp are not affected.

The reason for the shutdown is the ban on the exchange of user data between different meta services. Users can log in to both Instagram and Threads with their access information.
