Uhlig threw in the towel after just seven rounds

Just one win and six defeats in seven spring games have dragged Stripfing into the relegation battle in the second division. The lead over Dornbirn, the first team below the bottom line, is now just four points ahead of Saturday's direct clash. Brutal when you consider that the promoted team was still in third place after twelve rounds.

For coach Max Uhlig, who only took over from Christian Wegleitner in the winter, this was obviously too much of a bad thing. The 31-year-old asked sporting director Alex Grünwald to terminate his contract. "It came as a surprise to me because I had no plans to change coach, but Max was no longer convinced that our joint project would work," explained Grünwald. Uhlig said goodbye to the team on Monday, with his previous assistants Florian Hart and Florian Sattler taking charge of training.

It remains to be seen how long the duo will be in charge. "It's possible that the two of them will also do the game against Dornbirn - but it's also possible that we'll present someone new in the next few days," explained Grünwald, who is in possession of a B license himself but is not available as an interim solution.
