“Fearless spirit”: special honor for Odermatt

Marco Odermatt now has a slope in Switzerland named after him. The Titlis mountain railroads have dedicated a run to the great ski dominator, which is intended to reflect the 26-year-old's fearless nature and great talent.

"Marco-Odermatt-Piste Rotegg" is the resounding name of the run, which has been renamed in honor of the three-time overall World Cup winner. "The challenging nature of the black piste, previously known as Rotegg, perfectly reflects Marco's intrepid spirit and skiing skills," says a press release from Titlis Bergbahnen.

The slope has already been inaugurated by Odermatt himself. The ski ace was touched by the campaign: "It's very cool. I already got a gondola in Engelberg, now a piste. That's really great". It is also an award for the fact that he remains connected to his homeland and still enjoys skiing there. 

Inspiration for generations
Odermatt was surprised with the award together with his father Walter. "This dedication is a sign of our appreciation for Marco's achievements in skiing and should serve as inspiration for future generations," he was finally told. 

The 26-year-old has not yet decided whether he will also train on his own slope. However, he has a big dream: he wants to be able to ski there after his active career: "I hope they don't take the slope away again straight away when I stop," emphasized the Swiss with a grin on his face.
