“A crime!” Row over Karim Benzema escalates
Another row over Karim Benzema! After the Frenchman was briefly dropped from Al-Ittihad's squad in February due to an unauthorized trip, he is now allowed to play again. However, not in his regular position, which has caused outrage among the 36-year-old's family.
Benzema has been playing as a left-sided striker for several weeks now, although he has played as a center forward his entire career. "Benzema, are you playing on the left now? That's a crime! Footballers must be respected," commented the brother of the 2022 Ballon d'Or winner, outraged at the switch to the left.
Benzema has already repeatedly stated that he is unhappy with his role and with Jeddah in general. Only recently, the goalscorer declared that he was no longer the same player as in his Real Madrid days.
Not allowed to leave
Despite a contract until 2026 and a mega-salary of 200 million euros, Benzema is said to want to leave the desert club; he only wanted to pack his bags in the winter, but the club refused to let him go. Can this marriage still be saved?
