Team player falls ill
Drama! “Unsure whether he will make a full recovery”
Following his sudden collapse in February, Swedish international Kristoffer Olsson has made "great progress". However, it is still uncertain whether the 28-year-old will ever make a full recovery.
"Since his transfer to a rehabilitation clinic for neurological disorders, Kristoffer has regained both motor and verbal skills," his club FC Midtjylland announced on Sunday. The progress has been remarkable, the Danish club explained: "He is now actively training to be able to walk again and can already eat independently."
Nevertheless, there is still uncertainty as to what will happen next, as the Swede is facing "cognitive challenges", according to the club: "It is uncertain whether he will ever fully recover". However, the specialists are encouraged by the player's progress. Olsson is accompanied at the treatment center by his family and representatives of the club.
"An inspiration"
"It is breathtaking to witness Kristoffer's fight against the disease," said Midtjylland's managing director Claus Steinlein. His positive attitude, his fighting spirit and his tireless will to win would inspire everyone.
The 47-time Swedish international lost consciousness on February 20. He was subsequently admitted to Aarhus University Hospital. Examinations showed that several blood clots had formed in his brain due to a rare inflammation of the blood vessels.
