Fraudsters tracked down

Fuel card stolen and friends’ cars refueled

The Salzburg police have tracked down a brazen fraudster. The Upper Austrian stole fuel cards from a business almost thirty times and used them to refuel friends' cars.

Between January and March 2023, a 28-year-old Upper Austrian from the Braunau district stole fuel cards from company cars at a business in Flachgau a total of 28 times. He used them to fill up the cars of friends and then returned the cards. The accused knew about the company's circumstances because he had been employed there years ago. The damage amounted to around 2,000 euros, the police said. However, the man does not have a driver's license.
