Gardos/Polcanova miss out on direct Olympic ticket

The ÖTTV mixed team of Robert Gardos/Sofia Polcanova also lost in the semi-finals on the second day of the Olympic table tennis qualifying tournament in Havirov (CZE) and thus missed out on a ticket to the Summer Games for the time being. Nevertheless, the duo still have a good chance of qualifying for the mixed competition in Paris via the world rankings.

On Friday, they started with a 4:2 win against Maria Jowkowa/Denislaw Kodjabaschew (BUL).

In the semi-final, however, they lost to the Slovakian pairing of Barbora Balazova/Lubomir Pistej 3-4. Only the winner of the final qualifies directly for Paris.
