Resident raised the alarm when roof truss caught fire

Thanks to the alertness of a local resident, a fire in the roof of an apartment building in Linz was discovered in time on Thursday evening and the fire department successfully prevented the fire from spreading to the entire roof structure.

The Linz professional fire department was alerted to the fire in the roof area of an apartment building shortly before 7 pm. For unknown reasons, a fire had broken out in the balcony area on the 2nd floor and spread to the roof area.

The professional fire department reported on the operation: "The first firefighting operation was started in the area of the ridge using a turntable ladder, while at the same time another team gained access to the balcony via the affected apartment and fought the fire there."

Roof cladding was opened
In order to get to the embers and extinguish them, the roof cladding was opened up using rescue saws and cut-off grinders. After about an hour, the incident commander was able to call "fire out".
