A school of superlatives

The municipality of Götzis is investing 30 million euros in the renovation and extension of the Markt elementary school. In just a few years, the historic facility is set to become one of the most modern schools in Vorarlberg. 

At its most recent meeting, the Götzis municipal council decided by a large majority to renovate the historic Markt elementary school building and extend it with a new building. The aim is to create a school "that meets the requirements of modern pedagogy with maximum flexibility and takes into account the development towards all-day schooling and inclusive learning settings", according to the market town.

Bernardo Bader, one of Vorarlberg's most renowned architects, was awarded the contract for the 30 million euro project. His plans clearly separate the historic school building and the new building visually, although the two complexes will be connected. Furthermore, the school buildings are to be built or renovated using ecological construction methods. This will please many residents: The neighboring flower meadow is not affected by the plans and will remain undeveloped.
