Conny Wilczynski was manager of Handball-Westwien for many years and even became champion at the end of the club era. Now the former team winger is a top promoter of young talent, ORF expert and entrepreneur. And he also keeps a close eye on the "new" Greens.

Last year, Conny Wilczynski celebrated the handball league title fairy tale with Westwien before the financially-induced end became a reality. "We achieved something historic at the end - the positives outweigh the negatives. It's nice that the majority of the team has found good clubs." Now the ex-West Vienna manager is following the successor team, as second division leaders on the verge of returning to the top flight. "There are good players and coaches. This strong development will continue," said the former ÖHB winger, praising the "new" Greens. "I'm a fan now, I'm keeping my fingers crossed for them and I'll be back in the hall soon."

Wilczynski provides top training himself: As boss of Handball Mödling (initially a team of three with Westwien and Wienerwald), he won the Future Cup title, the largest national U13 competition, with sports director Stefan Higatzberger and head coach Vytas Ziura. "We have 100 children, we see handball as a school of life, we look at the big picture from performance to personality," emphasizes Wilczynski, whose two daughters Laura and Lena play for Hypo NÖ. And follow their dad, honorary HLA vice president, at men's international matches on ORF - as co-commentator and expert. "That's a lot of fun. We have a great national team with great guys! It's cool to get to know everything from a media perspective."

However, his main job has less to do with handball. Wilczynski is an entrepreneur. The Viennese founded the Padelzone, which currently has 17 locations throughout Austria - and the Sportbox (where the championship party was held on the Danube Island). "We offer a lot of exercise programs for children," says the 42-year-old, who is also a partner in the job platform Xalent. Conny, how does it all work out? "A day often lasts from 7 am to 11 pm. But I'm passionate about everything I do, both at work and in my free time, and I have great people around me." Like last year when she won the title.
