Wolfgang Year: construction of the lake stage has now started

The jubilee year of St. Wolfgang opens on Sunday. The 1100th birthday of the legendary man of God will be celebrated. Numerous events - including a new musical on a completely new stage - are on the program at Lake Wolfgang until 31 October.

St. Wolfgang celebrates his 1100th birthday this year. The anniversary year will be opened on Sunday, April 14, in the pilgrimage church of St. Wolfgang by the diocesan bishop of Linz, Manfred Scheuer. The year will conclude with the traditional patronal feast on October 31.

Highlights include the "Star Pilgrimage" (13 July) to St. Wolfgang and a cultural program. The "Art Circle International" art festival will take place from April 28 to May 5. Artists from countries such as Japan, France, Poland and Austria run "open studios" in hotels on Lake Wolfgang, followed by an exhibition in the Schafbergbahn valley station.

Stage right by the lake
The Salzkammergut lake stage, which is being built near the Falkensteinwand, is already under construction, as we have already reported. From 23 May, "Wolf - Das Mystical" by Gerd Hermann Ortler (music) and Franzobel (libretto) can be seen here, an extraordinary musical theater production presented by the "Krone".

Mystical yet modern, St. Wolfgang is resurrected as an interesting hero, with the emphasis on entertaining, high-quality music with good songs that also stir the emotions. A total of 8000 visitors are expected in the first season.
