Tyrolean communities back online after total outage
After the entire mobile and landline network in the three municipalities of Nauders, Pfunds and Spiss in the Tyrolean district of Landeck was paralyzed during excavation work on Tuesday, the damage was repaired on Wednesday. The emergency call was also affected by the outage.
The line was "massively damaged" on Tuesday during excavation work in the municipality of Pfunds. Both the landline network and the mobile network, including the internet, were affected by this outage.
Emergency calls via radio to the fire station
As the emergency call system was also partially out of order, the province of Tyrol called on people to go to the local fire stations in emergencies. These were manned in all three municipalities. Emergency calls could have been forwarded from there by radio.
On Wednesday afternoon, the province finally reported that the mobile and landline network outage had been rectified. "Telephony and internet are now working again without restrictions," it said.
