Arrest – then man headbutts police officer!

Emergency call in Vienna-Brigittenau on Monday evening: A stranger is said to have attacked a man with punches for no apparent reason. The man was caught and provisionally arrested. But that's not all: he also headbutted an officer!

Officers were called to Spielmanngasse shortly before 7 p.m., where they encountered the injured victim. The person stated that he had been attacked with punches by a stranger for no apparent reason and that the suspect had immediately fled.

The police immediately began searching for the person and were able to stop him a short time later. "The 20-year-old Austrian citizen was provisionally arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm", said police spokesman Philipp Haßlinger on Wednesday.

However, another incident occurred when the suspect left the police car: The suspect suddenly lunged at an officer and gave him a violent headbutt. The injured police officer was unable to continue his duties.  

Wanted to make narcotics disappear
The suspect also allegedly had a small amount of narcotics with him, which he tried to make disappear through a gap in the vehicle. The suspect is now being investigated on suspicion of attempted resistance to public authority, possession of narcotics and grievous bodily harm.
