Suddenly Didi Hamann is even raving about Bayern
"That was the best I've seen from Bayern in a long time." Suddenly, even Sky pundit Didi Hamann was raving about Bayern. A convincing performance in the 2:2 draw at Arsenal London on Tuesday evening made it possible.
Hamann had not distinguished himself as a Bayern hagiographer in the recent past. In the pre-match coverage of the game between Arsenal and Bayern, the Sky pundit was not overly confident about a good result for Bayern. The team was simply in a bad shape that would not be easy to shake off.
More than a draw deserved
(Just over) 90 minutes later, Hamann was downright impressed with Munich. "That was the best I've seen from Bayern in a long time," he enthused: "Both with and without the ball. That's why the coach (Thomas Tuchel, editor's note, whose fan boy Hamann hasn't exactly presented himself as recently) will be very pleased." Or maybe not - because Hamann was convinced that Tuchel's team deserved more than just a draw.
Despite everything, it was "a very good game" for Munich with "a very good chance of progressing to the next round".
