Left knee damaged
ÖSV ace with a stroke of luck after a heavy fall
While Lena Wechner, Ricarda Haaser and Emily Schöpf were able to celebrate their medals at the downhill national championships on the Reiteralm on Tuesday, things did not go according to plan for Ariane Rädler. After finishing sixth in training, the Vorarlberg native experienced a real scare in the race.
The 29-year-old skier, who was more consistent than ever last season and finished in the top 10 in the World Cup eight times, crashed heavily after a line error while braking. Due to pain in her left knee, she went to the private clinic in Hochrum for an examination. Doctor Christian Fink diagnosed a torn medial collateral ligament in her left knee and a bruised shin.
Rädler is to be treated conservatively and does not require an operation. However, the head rider will have to take it easy for the next five weeks.
