Attack in Vienna: woman stabs man in the leg with a knife

A disagreement is said to have led to a knife attack in Vienna-Penzing shortly before midnight on Monday. A man (37) was injured. An acquaintance (41) is said to have stabbed him in the leg with a knife. The man is in hospital. 

The attack is said to have occurred in a stairwell about half an hour before midnight. Officers from the Rudolfsheim-Fünfhaus municipal police station were alerted.

At the same time, officers from the Leyserstraße police station became aware of a man with an apparent leg injury while on patrol. It turned out that he was the victim of the knife attack. 

Man taken to hospital after attack
The 37-year-old was immediately given emergency medical treatment by the Vienna Emergency Medical Services and then taken to hospital. "There was no danger to life", police spokesman Mattias Schuster assured on Tuesday. The suspect (41) was also found at the scene and provisionally arrested. The woman was banned from entering the premises and from approaching and was provisionally banned from carrying weapons.

The alleged murder weapon, the knife (see photo above), was recovered from the 41-year-old's home. During the investigation, it emerged that the reason for the incident was a verbal argument between the two men. Further investigations are underway.
