Forestry worker hit by tree – seriously injured
A fatal accident at work on Monday evening in the Tyrolean Außerfern: a 53-year-old local man was hit and trapped by a tree during forestry work in Biberwier. His work colleague rushed to his aid and set the rescue chain in motion. The seriously injured man was flown to hospital by helicopter.
The serious accident happened at around 6.15 pm. The two locals, aged 53 and 58, were working in a wooded area in Biberwier, around 50 meters below a forest path, clearing two large trees that had fallen due to windthrow.
Trapped by a tree
"The 53-year-old wanted to cut off a tree at the height of the rootstock when it slipped. As a result, he became trapped with his right leg in the root area," said the police.
The seriously injured man was flown to Reutte District Hospital by emergency helicopter.

The 58-year-old heard the screams of his colleague and informed the emergency services after he was unable to free him himself. The seriously injured man was finally rescued by the fire department and mountain rescue team. After initial treatment on site, he was flown to Reutte District Hospital by emergency helicopter.
