A real odyssey for the eternal ice knight

After a stressful time, Franky Zorn will be competing at the World Championships in Russia this weekend.A friend took his bike with him to Togliatti.However, expectations are rather low due to the exertions.

After the show run with Formula 1 world champion Max Verstappen, ice speedway king Franky Zorn went to Sweden for two races. There he finished third once and second once. After that, a real odyssey began, where he also had to win bureaucratic races.

On the way home, the 51-year-old made a stopover in Berlin. "A colleague was kind enough to take my bike with him to Russia. He drove there in his van," says Zorn about the 2800-kilometer journey.

The man from Saalfelden had to ask for a visa for Russia due to the last-minute planning ("It was badly organized") of what is probably the only Grand Prix of the World Championship season. He didn't have the papers until Wednesday morning, after which he flew from Munich via Moscow to Togliatti.

"I have a training backlog"
Zorn is once again challenged on the Volga. Training is scheduled for today - then the races on Saturday and Sunday. The exertions have left their mark on the veteran. "I already have a training backlog. Let's see what we can do," says Zorn cautiously. After finishing fifth last season, the ice knight is aiming for a place in the top eight.
