Near the school
Wolf almost run over by a car in the middle of town
This wolf almost caused a car accident - in the middle of St. Georgen an der Gusen, a young Isegrim ran across the road in front of the secondary school - a driver was only able to slow down at the last moment. Children were able to film the incident on their cell phones. Just the day before, a wolf had been spotted nearby.
"It was probably two different animals," says Franz Hanl, the district hunter in Perg, who saw the wolf himself on Monday. He was able to collect scat samples, which will now be made available to the wolf commissioner of the province of Upper Austria. "This will hopefully enable us to clarify where the animal came from," says Hanl, who speaks of the young wolf's "conspicuous behavior". After all, it ran through the middle of a densely populated area.
Probably a young animal
The hunter is 99 percent sure that it is a wolf, probably a cub weighing around 30 kilos and around one year old. The animal was last seen running through a forest in the direction of Langenstein.
Deer attacked
The day before, another wolf was observed in Münzbach, which was later also seen in Schwertberg, Ried in der Riedmark and St. Georgen. "It was also observed attacking deer," says Hanl. It didn't kill any and then disappeared.
