Triumph in Chicago
Rossi’s 21st goal of the season in Minnesota’s NHL win
Marco Rossi contributed a goal to Minnesota Wild's 4-0 away win against the Chicago Blackhawks in the North American Ice Hockey League NHL on Sunday. The Vorarlberg native made it 2-0 (33rd) and now has 21 goals on the season.
Rossi drew level with Michael Raffl, who also scored 21 goals for the Philadelphia Flyers in the 2014/15 season. Of the Austrian NHL pros, only Thomas Vanek (nine times) and Michael Grabner (twice) have scored more often in a season.
In Chicago, star forward Kirill Kaprisov scored his 40th (22nd) and 41st (49th) goals of the season, while Frederick Gaudreau (39th) made it 3-0. The 21-year-old goalie Jesper Wallstedt celebrated a shutout in his second NHL game.
Miracle needed for play-offs
With a defeat, Minnesota would definitely have been out of the play-off race. With nine points behind the promotion places and only five games remaining, their play-off chances are now only theoretical.
