Unpleasant interview
Dortmund’s Schlotterbeck has a row with reporter
Nico Schlotterbeck was extremely frustrated after Dortmund were beaten 1-0 by Stuttgart on Saturday. This was also felt by Sky reporter Patrick Wasserziehr, who was properly reprimanded for his "stupid question".
The background was a top chance for Schlotterbeck in the closing stages of the game. The defender had the chance to make it 1:1 after a corner kick, but shot the ball over the goal from two meters out.
When asked why he had not scored the goal "quite simply asked", the 24-year-old reacted irritably: "That really is a stupid question." When Wasserziehr tried to justify himself by saying that the question wasn't that stupid, the two of them got into an argument - live on TV. "I actually thought it was stupid," says Schlotterbeck. "That's because maybe you've never played soccer before."
The fact that Wasserziehr said he had been playing soccer for 50 years was of little interest to the eleven-time Germany international: "But maybe not at that level." The reporter countered again: "True, but not that bad either." Until Schlotterbeck had finally had enough. "It would be good if you let me finish," the defender made clear. Even if the interview went on quite peacefully from then on - Wasserziehr will probably not forget his conversation with Schlotterbeck any time soon ...
