30 degree mark broken in Styria
As expected by the weather experts, a temperature of 30 degrees Celsius was measured for the first time this year on Sunday afternoon. It was exactly 30.0 degrees in Bruck an der Mur in Upper Styria.
So far, it is the only province in Austria to have exceeded the 30 degree mark. Weather experts were actually expecting over 30 degrees in Vienna too. Currently, several federal states have at least exceeded 27 degrees, with the second-highest measuring point being Lienz (Tyrol) at just under 29 degrees.
30 degree mark earlier and earlier
This makes it the earliest hot day in Austria and sets a new record since measurements began. The temperature mark of 30 degrees is being reached earlier and earlier in Austria. The first 30 degrees is now being measured on average one and a half weeks earlier than a few decades ago.
It stays hot
Early summer will enter the next round next week. This means that temperatures could reach 30 degrees on Monday too. A brief cooling is expected on Wednesday, but temperatures will remain summery with up to 28 degrees.
