A winner deserves to be celebrated. Ski jumping ace Daniel Huber was welcomed and celebrated by many fans in his home town of Seekirchen on Saturday in glorious weather. The 31-year-old spoke to the "Krone" about his emotions.
Ski jumper Daniel Huber was welcomed to thunderous applause in his home town of Seekirchen with the small crystal globe for his victory in the ski flying competition. The town band played in glorious weather and many fans were in attendance. The 31-year-old was visibly moved: "It was very emotional to drive in there. I was extremely happy that so many friends, acquaintances and companions were there."
The Seekirchen native took the globe ahead of Stefan Kraft in a thrilling finish in Planica. "I didn't expect it myself. It was very surprising that it worked out like that," said Huber jubilantly.
After the celebrations, the eagle is off to Mauritius for two weeks with his wife Franziska and their daughter on Wednesday.
