Dreier wins small crystal globe in Cortina!
Ski mountaineer Sarah Dreier secured the small crystal globe in the vertical competition in Cortina d'Ampezzo on Saturday!
The Salzburg native came second in the last World Cup race in this discipline after 680 vertical meters and thus defended her overall victory from last year. Frenchwoman Axelle Gachet-Mollaret secured the day's victory, while Johanna Hiemer finished in 6th place.
"More than happy about second place!"
"My goal was of course to take home the small ball. However, after the severe knee pain in the last two weeks, I had some doubts as to whether it would work. Thanks to our physiotherapist, however, I was able to run a pain-free race and I'm more than happy about second place and winning the overall Vertical World Cup," explained Dreier.
Christof Hochenwarter was the best ÖSV athlete in the men's race in fourth place, just ahead of Daniel Ganahl.
