1:1 between GAK and DSV Leoben in the final match!

The sovereign league leaders GAK had to settle for a 1:1 draw at home against their first rivals DSV Leoben in the top match of the 2nd division on Saturday! 

The lead over their rivals from Styria and SV Ried, their two closest rivals, is still a whopping 14 points with eight games to go. In front of a season-record crowd of 7080 spectators, the Red Jackets took the lead thanks to Daniel Maderner (37'), but failed to provide a preliminary decision.

Three days after losing the Cup semi-final against Rapid, the visitors improved and equalized in the final minute after a fine solo effort from Moritz Heinrich (86). Shortly before the end, DSV striker Deni Alar even had a great chance to score the winner.

Two days after the chaotic departure of coach Rene Poms, Carsten Jancker was back on the touchline at Leoben for the first time. The German was replaced by DSV in August 2023 and was presented as the successor to his predecessor yesterday.

In the fight against relegation, Sturm's amateurs and bottom club Amstetten suffered further setbacks. After taking a 2-0 lead at Schwarz-Weiß Bregenz, the young Blackies had to settle for a 3-3 draw after Lukas Brückler's triple (68th, 89th, 90th) within 23 minutes. The third Sturm goal was not scored until the 94th minute.

Amstetten lost the basement derby at FC Dornbirn 0:1 (0:1) and are four points behind Sturm with ten points. Dornbirn are seven points behind Kapfenberg and Stripfing with 19 points.
