Fraudster on platform
Tyrolean wanted to sell, now he’s out of money
A Tyrolean from the Wipptal valley certainly imagined the sale of a ski touring binding differently: An alleged buyer stole his bank details and withdrew over a thousand euros from his account.
The 53-year-old Tyrolean offered the ski touring binding for sale via an internet platform. Shortly afterwards, a supposedly interested buyer contacted him. Communication was shifted to an external messenger service. Eventually, the seller and the "buyer" became friends - or so it seemed.
Alleged link to enter bank details
The unknown woman explained to the man from Wipptal that she would send him the low three-digit euro amount they had agreed on via the payment service "Paylivery" and sent him a link. The victim was then asked to enter his bank details, which he did.
Transaction repeated three times
Because he was overwhelmed by the process - as the victim later explained to the police - he repeated the transaction three times. This enabled the fraudsters to take a four-digit euro amount from the local man.
