St. Johann defeats Bischofshofen in the derby

Underdogs St. Johann pick up extremely important points in the relegation battle in the derby against Bischofshofen. 2:0 home win thanks to goals from Sebastian Oberkofler and Aboubacar Cisse. Meanwhile, president Josef Klingler presented the successor to Ernst Lottermoser. Austria Salzburg will face the team of the moment on Saturday.

Excuse me? St. Johann were actually clear underdogs in the Pongau derby against Bischofshofen. But as every soccer fan knows, derbies have their own laws. With an extra dose of motivation, the Green and Blacks defeated BSK 2:0 at home with goals from Sebastian Oberkofler (25') and winter newcomer Aboubacar Cisse (54'). After three defeats in the Westliga, this victory is particularly good for the St. Johann soul. "I'm doing very well," laughed coach Ernst Lottermoser with relief. Goalscorer Oberkofler cheered amidst the celebrations: "It's amazing!" The match-winner was Aboubacar Cisse, who dribbled through after Djuric's pass, assisted and scored himself in the second half.

New coach from summer
Meanwhile, St. Johann's president Josef Klingler found a successor for Ernst Lottermoser, who is retiring in the summer. Andreas Scherer was found internally and the current "co" was promoted. "We're staying in Pongau," says Klingler, pleased with the internal solution. The problematic A10 highway also forced him to do so to some extent: "Unfortunately, it was very complicated with the construction sites and tunnels."

Another Salzburg derby will take place on Saturday (16) - Austria will face Wals-Grünau. After three wins to start, the Walsers are currently the team of the moment and will come to Maxglan with a lot of confidence. "They are aggressive and much more compact than in the fall," says Violett coach Christian Schaider. Despite the opponent's laurels, the Bavarian is confident of a home win: "We're top of the table and we want to stay that way until the end of the season. If we bring our game to the pitch, we will win the game."
