The chat service WhatsApp and other offerings from the Facebook group Meta were affected by a malfunction on Wednesday evening. Error messages from users piled up on online platforms. Normal operation was only restored hours later.
Within less than an hour, the platform allestörungen.at received thousands of reports. Most of the problems were reported when sending messages. There were also many error messages on Instagram, most users had a problem with the app itself.
Meta pointed out a WhatsApp outage on a status page. "Major disruptions" were also displayed for Messenger and Instagram, which also belong to the group. There was initially no explanation for the problems.
The Meta Group had to contend with disruptions to its apps just under a month ago.
