Stateless man (21) stabs boy with a knife

A 21-year-old stateless man attacked a 16-year-old boy with a knife outside an AMS course in Vienna's Leopoldstadt district on Tuesday morning. The Iraqi was injured in the head and neck. The attacker fled but was arrested a short time later.

The knife attack occurred in the course of a verbal argument at around 10 a.m. in Wehlistraße. The argument broke out in front of an educational establishment where both parties are believed to have attended an AMS course. According to reports, the 16-year-old came into contact with the stateless man's sister, whereupon the latter snapped - and stabbed him.

The victim was taken to hospital after receiving emergency medical treatment. There is no danger to life.

WEGA arrested the suspect
The 21-year-old fled the scene but was found a short time later by WEGA officers in an apartment and arrested.

The suspect was then taken to a prison. The alleged murder weapon was seized in the apartment. Further investigations are ongoing.
