Hit series “Grey’s Anatomy” gets a 21st season

According to reports, fans of the medical series "Grey's Anatomy" can look forward to another season. As reported by several industry portals, the show has been renewed for a 21st season on US broadcaster ABC.  

This makes the series, which was launched in 2005, the longest-running medical drama in television history. In 2019, it overtook the series "Emergency Room".

"Couldn't be more grateful"
"The loyalty and love of 'Grey's Anatomy' fans has catapulted us into a historic 21st season, and I couldn't be more grateful," series creator and producer Shonda Rhimes was quoted as saying. The new season will consist of 18 episodes.

Season 19, which can be streamed on Disney+ like previous seasons, marked the beginning of a new era for the series: actress Ellen Pompeo (54) stepped down from the project and her character Meredith Grey said goodbye to the hospital in Seattle. Until then, she had been the face of the series.

Many new faces
Many characters have left or died in "Grey's Anatomy" over the years. Actor Patrick Dempsey (58), for example - he played Derek "McDreamy" Shepherd, Meredith's partner.

In the 20th season, which started in the USA in March, a new group of assistant doctors was to be introduced - according to "The Hollywood Reporter", Pompeo was also to be seen.
