Austrian leaves Mikaela Shiffrin’s team
Departure from the team of ski queen Mikaela Shiffrin: The US American and Austrian Mark Mitter are ending their collaboration. The man from Ramsau worked as an assistant coach.
Mark Mitter, who previously worked with Austrian ski hero Marcel Hirscher for eight years, has been part of Mikaela Shiffrin's coaching staff since the 2022/23 season. Now the "very, very, successful and great time" is coming to an end, as Mitter reveals.
What impressed Mitter about Shiffrin
"I learned a lot. Sometimes it's just good to do something new," the Austrian is quoted as saying by "skiracing.com". Shiffrin's determination and perfectionism impresses him: "She is always looking to improve, always self-critical. The best are like that, they have something special."
Working with Shiffrin's mother Eileen, the exceptional skier's most important contact person, was also "a privilege". "Her guidance and knowledge have been instrumental in Mikaela's development as an athlete. Their relationship is really special and I am grateful to have been a part of it," says Mitter.
