Not to Messi after all?
Superstar Neymar promises his club a move
Despite being injured and having a contract until 2025 with an option for a further year, Neymar is already thinking about changing clubs again! After just five competitive games for Al-Hilal, the 32-year-old Brazilian is apparently not being drawn to his buddy Lionel Messi and Inter Miami after all, but to his home club FC Santos.
Apparently, the 32-year-old Brazilian even announced his transfer during a visit at the weekend. As reported by "UOL", Neymar went into the dressing room after his former club's game and then promised to return. He wants to return home by summer 2025 at the latest, according to reports.
Probably also because the fans at Santos FC love him. When Neymar entered the pitch, the fans chanted loudly: "Come home, Neymar!" In 2013, he left his home club for Barcelona. In 2017, he moved to Paris, followed six years later by a hitherto unsuccessful move to the desert for a transfer fee of around 90 million euros. However, due to a cruciate ligament rupture, the superstar only made five competitive appearances with one goal and three assists. And his comeback is still a long way off.
Comeback not until the summer
"We expect him to be ready for his return at the start of the 2024/2025 season in Europe, which is in August. Talking about a return before a nine-month break would be premature," said Brazil team doctor Rodrigo Lasmar following Neymar's injury in October.
Rumors had also recently been circulating that Neymar would move to Miami to join his old pal Messi. But now the promise to FC Santos - even though the club has just been relegated to Brazil's Serie B.
