Plainfeld confirmed their championship ambitions in the top duel of the 2nd Landesliga Nord with a 1:0 away win in Köstendorf. The hosts were not kissed by fortune: They had to make three changes due to injury.
On Saturday, Plainfeld came away with a somewhat fortunate 1-0 win in the top-of-the-table clash in the 2nd Landesliga Nord in Köstendorf. On the opposing side, however, the bad luck started during the warm-up: Christian Ensinger pulled his thigh while sprinting. He is expected to be out for several weeks due to previous problems.
A half to forget
It did not take long for the team to suffer their next setback. They fell behind after 17 minutes, officially through an own goal, but Plainfeld's Andrej Spasojevic also had a foot in the action. Just a few minutes later, Andreas Fenninger also joined Köstendorf in the hospital. He took a firm volley to the face and was unable to continue afterwards. After two days with a severe headache, he is now feeling better again. But it wasn't over yet: Ermin Rasidovic twisted his ankle without any influence from his opponent and suffered a slight ligament tear. He immediately went to hospital and will be out for a long time.
After taking the lead, we controlled the game. We created a few chances but failed to take advantage of them.

New hope quickly extinguished
Despite these setbacks, the hosts did not give up. "In the dressing room, everyone realized the difficult situation, but also accepted it. We went into the second half with strong morale and the will to win," said Köstendorf coach Georg Seidl. Unfortunately, this rally only lasted until the 67th minute: the supposed own goal scorer Filip Stosic had to leave the pitch due to groin problems that had been bothering him for some time. A real mood killer, the air was out. In stoppage time, the frustration even led to him being sent off.
Despite the difficult situation, our team showed great morale. They didn't give up until the end.

Top spot consolidated
The world looked very different for the visitors: Plainfeld went home satisfied with three points after what was actually a very even encounter overall, thereby also consolidating their pole position in the table. "It was a six-point game for us because we were able to keep a direct rival at bay," said Plainfeld coach Florian Königseder. "We were able to build up a lot of self-confidence. But now we have to confirm these performances."
