Argument with wife, then man sets fire to garden shed
A marital dispute in Vienna-Döbling may have gone completely off the rails on Easter Sunday: The husband (57) is suspected of setting his 52-year-old wife's garden shed on fire. He then allegedly threatened his son on the phone to set fire to their apartment in Favoriten. The man was arrested.
At around 7.45 pm, the emergency services received an emergency call: a garden shed in Vienna-Döbling was on fire. A short time later, an arrest was made: the garden shed owner's husband is suspected of having started the fire. According to the police, there had probably been an argument between the two beforehand.
Wanted to set fire to second building
The 57-year-old was arrested in Van-der-Nüll-Gasse. After the arson, the 57-year-old is said to have threatened to set fire to their shared apartment in Favoriten over the phone, including to his son. "However, he was no longer able to do so", the police announced on Monday. He was arrested by officers before he could even enter the apartment building.
Massive damage to the building
At the same time, the fire in the garden house in Döbling was extinguished by the Vienna Fire Brigade. The deflagration of presumably spilled petrol had caused massive damage to the building, which made it necessary for the fire department to take appropriate safety and control measures.
