Schwaz HB suffered its second defeat of the season in the Handball Liga Austria (HLA) on Saturday. The Tyroleans lost 36:33 (15:20) at UHK Krems, but go into the last two rounds of the basic round as league leaders. HC Linz and SC Ferlach secured their progression to the quarter-finals with victories, which means they are now complete.

Krems laid the foundation for their success in a strong first half, in which the Lower Austrians led by as many as six goals. Schwaz closed the gap to two goals after the break, but the Krems side never let the lead slip from its grasp.

HC Linz won 35:32 at Fivers Margareten and, like Ferlach, can no longer be ousted from the top eight after a safe 31:23 win against HSG Bärnbach/Köflach.

Foxes stay close to Hard
The Foxes from Bruck/Trofaiach struggled to a 33:31 win against bottom-of-the-table UHC Hollabrunn and moved to within one point of second-placed HC Hard, who are not in action until Wednesday in Bregenz.
